The O'Hara Mill Pioneer Homestead relies almost exclusively on volunteers to complete restoration and construction projects, provide demonstrations in any of the several buildings and gardens and just generally help out. You do not have to commit to anything – you can help out on your schedule for whatever amount of time you can devote.
The number of tasks that need doing is surprising. For example, did you know that just monitoring the walking trails for maintenance and safety issues while you enjoy hiking the trails at O'Hara is a job that needs doing? In general, if you can think of a task, it probably needs doing or could use more hands than we have. You might even be able suggest ways you could help out that we have not thought of yet.
The camaraderie is great so, when we have enough volunteers to go around, most tasks are more social event than work. Why not give it try? Check out this year's Volunteer Schedule under the Volunteers tab. If you see something you might like to get involved in, contact the O'Hara Volunteers Association or just turn up and offer to try out a test run.
